Georgia to Hamburg

Georgia is coming to Hamburg.

Discover selected Georgian snacks, tea, spices and wine – and be there for our first tastings.

The first tastings take place in Hamburg.

More than wine.

Georgia has one of the world’s oldest food and wine cultures – but many of its products are still almost unknown in Germany. We want to change that.

We source special products directly from Georgian producers and bring the most exciting ones to Hamburg.

Where our products come from

  • Svaneti Spices
  • Western Georgia Tea
  • Kakheti Wine
  • Churchkhela & Tklapi from all over Georgia
  1. Rows of glossy churchkhela made from grape must and walnuts

    Churchkhela

    Grape must · walnuts

Grape must, walnuts and a centuries-old Georgian tradition.

Churchkhela is made in autumn, at the grape harvest: walnuts are threaded on a string and dipped again and again in thickened grape must. Then the strands dry for days.

  2. Rolled fruit leather in plum red and apricot

    Tklapi

    Fruit purée · sun-dried

Georgian fruit leather – intense, simple and surprising.

For tklapi, fruit purée is cooked down, spread paper-thin and dried in the sun. The sour version, made from cherry plums, even seasons soups like kharcho in Georgia.

  3. Loose black tea leaves in a clay cup

    Georgian tea

    Tea leaves · Western Georgia

Tea from the Caucasus – an almost forgotten Georgian tradition.

Large-scale tea growing began on the Black Sea coast in the late 19th century. In Soviet times, most of the Soviet Union’s tea came from Georgia – today small producers are bringing the old plantations back.

  4. A glass of amber wine, close up

    Wine

    Qvevri · Kakheti

Native grape varieties and qvevri wines.

Finds show some 8,000 years of winemaking in Georgia. In a qvevri, a clay vessel buried in the ground, the wine traditionally ferments with skins and seeds – UNESCO intangible heritage since 2013.

  5. Salt, chilli and a herb blend in three wooden bowls

    Spices

    Svanetian salt · khmeli suneli

    Unmistakable spice blends.

Svanetian salt comes from the mountains of north-west Georgia: salt with garlic, blue fenugreek, coriander and chilli. Khmeli suneli blends dried herbs with marigold, the “Imeretian saffron”.
